My ultimate hardware free tarp suspension

I know many here love their hardware but I think I've settled on my ultimate, hardware free, easy to build and very easy to set up tarp suspension system.

It consists of separate lines on each end of the tarp. i.e. not a continuous ridgeline.

Each line is larks headed to the tarp.
I take the line around the tree then back to the tarp creating a V.
Each line is fitted with a prussic loop that has a large stopper knot on it's end.
I push the stopper knot through the loop that is larksheaded to the tarp. Then tighten the prussic.
It works like a button hole. Under tension it holds the knot. The 'button hole' can be made smaller if necessary by simply tying an overhand knot.

I find this system quicker and easier to use than figure 9s or any other hardware I've tried. It's lighter, obviously, and easily repaired in the field. Although it has never failed on me yet.

I don't claim this as my own invention. All ideas were gleaned from HF expertise. No doubt this system has been described here before anyway. But I think it's worth repeating for all those who think they can't hang without hardware.

How about some pics? This sounds interesting.

I think the best way to show it is to look at Dejoha's illustration.

Start with the Prusik method but remove the mini biner and larks head the line to the tarp. Then tie a nice big stop knot on loose end of the Prusik loop.

When setting up the stop knot is pushed through the loop nearest the larks head.

It's not a great leap for hammock-kind but it's one step for me.

Sounds interesting but I don't quite get the prussik stopper knot. When making the prussik do you leave a larger length of line on one of the ends then put a stopper knot? The way I do it with no hardware is to bowline to the webbing, wrap around the tree then use a truckers hitch to tighten up the working end.

OK. So I've drawn on Dejoha's illustration (sorry Dejoha)

the green blob shows where the stopper knot goes and it is simply passed through the loop. Under tension the loop grips the stopper knot. Set up and take down couldn't be easier. Even with hardware.

What kind of line and stopper knot are you using?

I've got Zing It for the main lines, some thinner dyneema for the Prusiks and the knot is a Stevedore Knot. Nice and easy.

A lanyard knot should work nicely as well.

I tried it with a lanyard knot. I like it. I'm gonna fiddle and see how I can integrate it into my lines. Thanks for posting.

Not having tried this yet I maybe unnecessarily making it more complicated. I'm wondering about changing the fixed loop that is larks headed to the tarp to a constricting loop like the kind on the end of a soft shackle. It could open, making room for the prussic loop's stop knot then constrict, locking the stop knot in place.
