    Camo Netting a Hammock

I was curious as to how many, if any, use camo netting with your hammock and looking for input on the subject.

I guess this leads into the "stealth factor" but when I hang I really don't want to be noticed and do want to blend as much as possible with my surroundings.

I googled the subject and came across a picture posted on the forum gallery by "trooper" showing his set up which I like alot.

    Any takers??

www.owfinc.com sells camo netting. I've done a lot of business with these folks, but haven't bought the camo netting. I have their 0.7 oz. netting and wish that came in camo.

Thanks for the recommendation. This may be something not alot of people do but from what I've seen I like how the netting breaks things up when you hang it.

I have actually thought of doing this a few times. Problem with it for me is the added weight vs benefit. In certain situations, its benefits would be well worth the added weight. In others, id just leave it at home. Originally I wanted to line the outside of my hammock sock or UQ with it but then realized that my tarp mostly covers my entire hammock if being used. So my best bet would be to apply it to my tarp or to just build a blind around my hammock. I think a good compromise would be best. Applying it to various parts of a camouflaged colored tarp might work best. As long a the main shape of the tarp could be broken up using the netting, I think it would work pretty good.

My thoughts are camo the tarp... Close in the tarp doors... Maybe hang some stuff off the tarp to break up the outline/silhouette... Branches... leaves... palm frawns...

    But that's just me...

Many times there are vine like plants growing nearby. Your tarp would blend in better if you threw some of that over the ridgeline and tucked it into the guy-out loops.

    Don't grab poison ivy though!

Great input, I use camo tarps both ripstop and Harbor Freight budget deals at times. Sportman's Guide has an 8X10 they claim is 21oz in the bag, sadly it's out of stock. I can see where you don't want the weight at times.

I've considered natural vegetation, which would probably be pretty available and convenient. I guess natural cover would be more appropriate.

I can't get away from the idea of how nice it would be to just toss a net across my ridgeline.

    Another lazy thought.

IMO, lazy thoughts and hammocks go together quite well!

FWIW...I have removed the camo netting from several Hennessy hammocks and replaced it with the black no-see-um netting. Main complaint...can't see through it very well. ZQ

I've hung in a duck-blind that I made with some camo-net and natural vegetation.
