    Successful winter hang...

Hung at Mt Leconte shelter area last week, above 6000 feet, and plenty of snow on the ground. thursday night. This was the setup:

    8 x 10 tarp with small beaks
    ENO double
    50 degree speer pea pod
    insulated big agnes pad
    golite ultra quilt
    cocoon insulated balaclava

plus plenty of layers, top and bottom, including patagonia mp vest.

wish the camera did not die on day one of the trip (three day/2 night)

my torso was ultra warm, feet were a little cold, and head was warm but was not fiddle free (kept having to adjust my fleece balaclava and cocoon balaclava.) my big agnes pad is not long enough for all 6-5 of me, and the small piece of blue foam i brought for my feet was not enough. I had to take my emergency bivy sac and put it around my feet, which were stuffed into my fleece jacket.

also wish i knew the exact temps, but i am guessing in the teens.

i am now very interested in one of these hammock socks, but i have no DIY skills.

I have trouble sometimes w/ my feet too. A hot water bottle is one possible solution.

Talk to skskinner, he makes a lot of socks. I would make you one of my style socks, but it would have to wait until after Mt. Rogers. Starting some classes for work on Monday.
