A sliding toggle (Yes, another suspension idea)

Dutch toggles (thin wall ti tubes with polished line holes, grooves on the ends to help lock the slip knot and/or hold boots or pack in place?

Exactly what I was thinking yesterday afternoon on the drive home from work.

Back to the topic at hand.
Let's go over the advantages:
1. even more variable in length than a whoopie?
2. can be set up via carabiner as one system=less likely to leave tree hugger
3. its radical and you'll be the coolest at the next group hang
4. more?

Cons:
1. slower to adjust than a whoopie (but not by much)
2. keeps your mouth off the amsteel (i've seen hangers use their teeth
to hold the hammock rig while adjusting the whoopie and amsteel is
probably rough on the enamel
3. Dont loose that fancy Dutch Ti toggle! yes something else to keep up with
and harder to fabricate in the field compared to a MSH
4. more?

Actually if you blunted the end of the amsteel line by feeding it back in on itself it should make a end piece that prevent the toggle from ever leaving the amsteel.

I pictured a single piece of amsteel with a loop on one end that you would attach to the tree strap via a larkshead and a knot or knob on the other end with the toggle floating in between.

Unless I am picturing it wrong. Being left-handed that is totally possible. I never seem to grasp things in the same manner as most folks.

Not knowing much about Ti, you would have to be careful about how thin the wall is, the compression in the initial bend out of the hole is pretty significant and only 1/2 the diameter of the tube would be supporting it. Just thinking out loud.

That's what I was thinking. I can't see anything good happening from wrapping amsteel around a dull knife and hanging from it.

I can see where if you looped both ends it would be make set up a tiny bit faster as well as set up near dark as there would be no 'wrong' end so all things equal a second loop might be the best choice.
