This is my first post not counting my intro. I have been reading and learning for about 2 months now and finally signed up the other day.
Being in Boy Scouts we go places that trees are to far a part or we are not allow to use trees so I was inspired by the turtledog stand. I wanted a stand that was compact but still easy to setup.
So i thought how can I do this? My 1st attempt is below:
6 - 3/4" conduit pipes 4' long
6 - 1/2" conduit pipes 4' long
5' section 4" PVC
5' section 3" PVC
1 PVC coupler 4" -3"
various metal fittings u-fittings, swivels etc
para cord
cotter pins
So I drilled holes in the 1/2" conduit about 1/2 from top and then middle of 3/4" conduit. Insert 1 1/2" into 1 3/4" line up holes and insert cotter pin this pole is now 6' long. put 3 together and lash putting in fittings that you want.
Put PVC pipe together you get 10' length of PVC hang between tripods put on hammock.
TO pack up collapse poles into each other 3' long put both tripods into 3" PVC then put into 4" PVC now have a 5' PVC package that has my tripod stand in it.
It is heavy so there is no just carrying around but I can leave it in the car ready to go at anytime.
Please let me know what you think good or bad. It is a work in progress and other then 2 nights in the basement it has not been really field tested.
Pics......need to get better ones these are from a phone sorry
packed up looks like this:
