    FL>Palatka>Rice Creek Conservation Area>2/17-19/2013

Going to head out to Rice Creek Conservation Area again in a couple of weeks. Had a blast the last two times I was out there.

Link to Google Maps for directions.

Link to the trail map for the conservation area.

I'll be coming in on Sunday, hopefully fairly early. Monday, I intend on exploring the FL Trail through the area south of SR 20 this time on Monday; it'll be a minimum of a ~10 mile hike through fairly easy terrain (not much in the way of up and down; this is FL, after all). Tuesday, I'll need to get back on the road and head home. Short trip, but hopefully a fun one.

Hope to see some folks there!

We might make it on Saturday night, got my fingers crossed. Got some new gear in the works to test out.

I am REALLY looking forward to this, hope it works that we can join you there, Rider...I haven't had much opportunity to hang my new hammock, much less NEW gear and food!

Hoping to see you both out there. For sure, down equipment is harder to make than synthetic. But those JC Penny jackets look pretty easy to mod.

    ~1 week out bump.

Plan for Monday so far is to hike down to the Cross FL Greenway on the FT (~21-mile day, round trip), depending on who decides to come out that day and what they want to do. We can make it a shorter day (~7 miles) if we go to SR 20, and there are several other options available as well.

I do have to get going early on Tuesday, though, due to work; I won't be at the site past ~9 AM if I can help it.

All the more reason to get out into the woods. Line item: "Creativity and centering retreat."

Glad to hear that I'll be seeing you Sunday morning! I look forward to it.

I'm trying to make plans to be in Palatka on Friday. If it works, I will be there Fri night, hike south to SR20 on Sat, and be back in camp mid afternoon on Sat. FlRider, I'll have coffee with you on Sunday, but then I'll have to hit the road.
