A good day in Brutes world...

Ordered my Superfly in camo today...

My line locks shipped from hammock forum store...

Ordered 180' of 1.75mm zingit for the tarp and 40' of amsteel just because I had the free shipping code...

Also I signed up for my marathon hike that's in March... Helluva expensive day but oh so worth it...

And I got to have lunch with my perty wife at subway... Which was the best part, until the tarp arrives

Sounds like a perfect day. The only thing I can think of that would have made it better is if you had taken MY wife out to lunch (we were both off and I had to spend the day with her at the mall, "yes dear, it looks great on you...).

But seriously that's awesome, I can relate, I too made a purchase today, some material from DIY Gear Supply to make my first DIY tarp, hex cut. Can't wait...

Very nice. So I guess you are holding off on getting the BIAS hammock? I understand since the Superfly should beat the crap out of the ENO tarp you used at Lost Maples, and your hammock looked pretty comfortable. I definitely like Caveman's Superfly tarp. I might head back out to Lost Maples next week, or maybe somewhere else, to use my new UQ on an actual trip.

Good luck on the Bataan hike. My grandfather served in the European Theater, but what I've learned about the fall of Corregidor and the subsequent march by the men left, I have the utmost respect for them.

Very nice. What a day! The SF is next on my wish list.

BTW, Brute, where exactly in So Tex are you located?

The Battaan March looks interesting. Might be even more interesting if done wearing the same shoes and clothing and forego any food and carry limited water.

Looks fun to but good luck with finding trees there it looks like a true desert. It reminds me of central and southern utah. Flat not a tree around.

Unfortunately this is a non camping event... If it was a camping event that handy hammock stand would be first on the shopping list... This is marathon style start to finish 26.2 miles with a 35+ lb pack... Your only young and dumb once, might as well have some good stories when I am old and cranky...

Only be young and dumb once, but being old and cranky is much more fun. 'Course I'm also still doing the dumb stuff to this day - I got a special license for it.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."
