    The Great American Hang-Out (Feeler)

A la the Great American Smoke - Out . . . I wanted to see if their is any interest in a nation wide hang. We can try to meet at somewhere in the center of the USA for ease of transportation from everyone.

We would have to select a location, date and duration early so everyone can plan ahead and make it.

    Any interest?

In theory, that's an excellent idea. However, I think that getting enough people to something like this, from a purely transportation standpoint, would be a nightmare. Maybe instead of coming to one location, on the date chosen, everyone could hang somewhere. Pick a place, your bedroom, backyard, garage, woods behind your house, etc and go hang for the night.

    Good idea.

There will be a lot to work out as far as location, season, etc... what about somewhere in Missouri? It is in the middle of the country...

Or we could do what Hooch says, but I like the idea of seeing other folks and their setups.

Hooch - I think your idea is valid as well, perhaps plan "b"

Patrick - I was thinking Missouri as well. I think carpooling is essentially. I see know reason why a group of us Houstonians could not car pool to Missouri.

The key here is that the hang needs to be long enough to make it worth a drive.

Another option is to have regional hangs.

Regional hangs and then teleconference them all together on giant screens...

Every "club" or "interest group" has a annual get together supplemented by regional/local get together's throughout the year. It would be great if we could do that too.

Can you imagine a tent camper walking up on 100 hangers?

I like this idea. We could all document with pictures then post them in a single thread.

    Thumbs up

I'm most certainly up to a Missouri Hammock Conclave! I don't know how doable it will be for everyone, but it sure would be cool!

Now, if it is going to be pictures/videos/teleconferencing then my vote is we go traditional and have the 'hang' on Hammock Day, July 22nd.
