Ok the skinny please. Is it shiny with just the fiber being colored ,or is the surface colored too? Does it reflect sunlight or is it dull? Am i seeing the origional silver with color thread break up, or is it the shine not the silver. Congrats on your new gear.

Wow, loving that fabric. A cuben tarp from HG is at the top of my wish list - posts like these don't help me resist the temptation as easily...

That is beautiful and really blends in well with the environment (except the orange lines). It looks like a 12' ridge line?

Thanks for the wonderful comments, but all praise goes to Adam at www.HammockGear.com Here is a further description of my camo cuben tarp. It is the 4-season Hammock Gear tarp with a 10'-10" ridgeline per the website.

The colors in my photos match the actual color in the tarp. From my inspection, it appears that the camo pattern is printed on one side of the dyneema fibers inside the mylar "sandwich."

The evidence of this is that the colors are stronger on the outside of the tarp than they are on the inside. This could be an advantage because the tarp could be deployed inside-out when camping on a field of snow, showing the more muted side.

Another advantage is that the colors are protected by the mylar layers which should prevent them from being worn off.

The reason I believe this to constructed in this manner is that the mylar coating has a sheen that is consistent over the colored areas and the non-colored areas. So, it appears that the print is on the inside.

I would describe the mylar surface as having a sheen; not shiny and not matte. This may dull a bit after multiple deployments and stuffings, but I don't know. Either way, it's not a problem for me.

The view from the inside is a little translucent, but significantly less so than plain, white cuben. I actually love the effect. One of the things that has kept me from buying a cuben tarp before now is the whitish color and the high translucence.

But this tarp is perfect in my mind! I cannot find anything that I would change about this tarp! This is one of those pieces of gear that will give you goose-bumps!!!

I must add my apology for the quick setup in the pictures. I was pressed for time and did a sloppy job.
