    Yeah I really wanted a usable vest too. But I guess I will try thia for now...I am really happy with it and it has a low weight penalty...too bad it is not fully dual use. Ideas?

    I am considering removing the side panels on my footbox. with the 4xl it is awfully big and I am a skinny guy so I might be able to get away with sewing together the back and side panels and still have a usable vest and save a little weight.


    I think your footbox looks nicer and is probably better for warmer weather - not really that often that you would need both down jacket and vest. if it is that cold (unless totally unexpected) you would probably want a warmer quilt anyway. Yet having options is nice. May still try your version because then my daughter could use the current footbox as a quilt if she comes along. Hmm...

    I may make another as a cold weather addition...I bought several jackets. I thinkyou could double those up nicely.
