    Strength of rigging parts

    I was considering using a two ring with Garda Hitch and carabiners to make rigging and adjusting my hammock easier. A couple of posts on this site mentioned the amount of tension on the lines when hanging which I recall as being 1200 pounds. Would I need to get heavier rated carabiners and rings for the set up using tree hugger with rope suspended hammock?

    I have a bunch of hangs on my camp nano biners. Weigh an oz or so. A bunch of people here use them. I think they are rated to 24kN or something high like that.

    So I guess I'm suggesting strong yes, but it doesn't need to be heavy.
    Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
    The hanger formly known as "hammock engineer".

    Trek Light makes some good biners too; wee bit lighter than the Camp Nanos.
    Trust nobody!

    I admit I am a bit over cautious about things like weight limits on gear so I got a couple Metolius Inferno 'biners. They are rated to 28kN and weigh in at 35g each.

    it's no where near that much tension, actually it's very close to your bodyweight on each support, maybe a little more

    Warbonnetguy;
    Thanks for the weight amount on each support, makes a lot of sense.

    Isn't that figuring on the optimum suspension angle of roughly 30 degrees? If I understand correctly the stress climbs rapidly as the angle nears horizontal?
    I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
