To Dutch clip, or not to Dutch clip... That is the question

I have come quite a ways in the past month. Started out with just a Eno DN and before I knew it I had three more Hammocks ( 2 DIY and an Eno SN), all converted/ made with whoopies and straps (Courtesy of Dutch, who has yet to yell at me for always placing an order then remember stuff I wanted to get and placing a second order within 24 hours of the first). So here's my dilemma, do the Dutch clips really make things easier? I sewed loops in the straps I got from Dutch and it seems fine to me ( so glad I ditched the Eno Slap Straps), but I keep wondering if the clips would be better. It doesn't help matters that I lurk around here gathering information, see Dutches Ad in the upper right hand corner, click on it, then stare at the screen wondering if I should just order them.

On one hand I like things to be easier, on the other I just wonder if its something else for me to worry about losing. Anyone have any thoughts to share? Make up my mind for me.

i have a set of dutch clips and i love them. i too was worried about another thing to lose, so i just hand sewed a couple of stitches in the webbing to hold the clips in place so there is no chance of them accidently falling out. works like a charm. and yes they do make it easier to setup, dutch clips and cinch buckles are 2 of my favorite things. all of the little things that make it easier add up and save time and headaches, at least for me.

...+ 1. I totally agree. And Dutch hooks, for my tarp lines....

Dutch hooks at the bottom (stake end), mini line-loks attached at the tarp end. I leave my lines (spectra no-tangle) and line-loks attached to the tarp.

Working on a picture for you.

It depends on the type of suspension you have. If you have an all strap suspension, then it is a must to have a connector. That could be a climbing rated carabiner or a Dutch clip. Which one would you want to carry for miles in a backpack?

If you have removeable straps in combination with something like whoopie slings, you don't need any connector. Just thread one end of your strap through the looped end. However, lets say you need to raise or lower the strap after initial setup, but there are branches in the way of doing that. You must un-thread and re-thread the straps. With Dutch clips, you simply unclip, move the strap, and re-clip! Nice and convenient.

As much as I like various pieces of Dutch gear, I've always just threaded the strap through the end loop.
