WBRR 3.7 ounces (107 gram) carbon fiber spreaderbars

Just made myself some ultralight carbon spreaderbars for the WBRR.

    • Weights complete (2 bars) about 107 gram, (about 3,7 ounces)
    • Carbon bars costs about 10 euro (13 dollar), bought in a kite shop
    • Diameter 12 mm
    • The four S-Biners I bought in a marine store, price about 1 euro each.
    • The bolts are from allumium. I got some old ones from some inline skates.

The original spreader bars weigths about 279 gram (about 9.8 ounces) still light though. But besides, the good thing about the new spreader bars it cant harm your tarp. They fit very neatly inside the hammock.

    See pictures.

It is amazingly strong. I did fill the carbon bars partly with a wood core although it is not really needed. My weight is about 75 kg.

    Cheers Frank

It cost you $13 U.S for all the carbon fiber? If yes are you sure it's CF because if it is that is the cheapest price I have heard for it . Also do you experience any flex in the bars ?
