    Help with suspension setup

Ok so im trying to work out all the kinks in my suspension system, and I could use some expert advice from some of the nice folks on here.

I'm pretty much using the dutch setup with tree straps connected to whoopies connected to biners (instead of whoopie hooks, just because I haven't bought them yet) connected to my hammock.

So my question is this: is there some kind of knot or something I could use to tie the whoopies to the tree strap? I've been trying to make the distance between my hammock and the tree as small as possible, and I think using some kind of knot instead of a fixed eye could cut out a few more inches for me.

Also if there are any other tips or tricks anyone uses to cut down the amount of space between their hammock and the tree (when using whoopies) it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance guys!

Are you close enough to clip the tree strap directly to the hammock?

Is the tree small enough to make a second wrap with the strap and portion of the whoopie?

Once you start playing with it I'm sure you'll find plenty of solutions.

    Good luck

Yeah I have played around with that a little, and I can always clip the hammock right to the tree strap, but I still want to have the whoopie be as short as possible. Im Just kind of nit picking really. Maybe Im over thinking it.

hope there is nothing wrong with your whoopies. mine as thight or cinched up as far as they go are only about a 10-12 inches or so from the end on my hammock. fully extended they are about 5.5-6.5 ft from the end of my hammock. Maybe Im just not understanding your ?.

A marlin spike and toggle in the strap.
The woopie goes over the marlin spike knot, not the toggle, down to the biner. Shug has a video on this that is very easy to understand that is on you tube.

Also if cutting down the distance between trees is what your looking for ,you could larks head some buckles to your hammock cutting out the woopies all together. Then you could pull the hammock suspension in pretty close to the trees.

Run both the fixed eye and adjustable loop of the whoopie to the tree strap, making the body of it your new loop at the hammock, which will shorten the distance by half the length of the whoopie.

Use a larks head. It should show you how to do it on the card that dutch sends with his shipments.

    Thanks for the replies guys!
What I'm wondering though is if there is a knot that would be safe to use for connecting the whoopie to the tree strap instead of larksheading the whoopie to the tree strap.
