With Paul, I am amazed at the absent consideration of basic engineering and physics in the visualization. Calculate the tension on all parts at the illustrated near-horizontal hang angle. Put an 800lb 4-person load in, and I'd estimate one-ton stresses and so need for 15,000+ lb ropes and fasteners.

Agreed on the massive tensions involved - However when you view the video's comparison of this product to how spiderwebs distribute load, you see how it could be workable. A cutaway view in that vid shows cables or tension lines of some sort woven all thru the structure of the thing, so load is definitely not handled by the fabric.

Don't know when or where I'd use it, but I have to admit the triangular version is a cool idea, with three individual hammocks plus a center room.

Think of what producing underquilts for these bad boys will do for the vendors we all know and love! Imagine if you were a hammock newbie and took 3 of your closest friends on a winter hike. Maybe the combined body heat would have some effect and you could use the resulting condensation for drinking water?

I think I'll stick to making my own hammocks. One pound is just perfect.
