Good luck Owl!
Good luck Owl!
Best of luck with this. Looking forward to hearing the outcome.
I have some friends in KC that are into the outdoors - I called them and told them about this event. Hopefully you'll have a few more people there.
Let us know how this goes - it sounds like a great idea that could be replicated elsewhere, and it would be useful to hear what works and what doesn't.
Good luck!
Today is the day!
Hoping I've got everything prepped. Grandson got sick this week, and I've been up at the hospital when I've not been at work since Tuesday, so my last minute prep time was devoted to that instead.
But...turtledog stand is bundled on the floor in the hallway, tub full o' hammock gear is standing by...even put together a bunch of Ziploc bags with sand to use as sandbags for stake out points on tarps.
Looks like I'll have lots of support from my local hangin' buds too...Ramenshamen, Hoot, Radiohead, and Trailboss are coming out to cheer me on, help me demo gear, and even being so kind as to let my borrow some of their gear for the class. (Thanks folks...you guys really are awesome!).
I'm taking my GoPro camera and a tripod, so I'm going to try to video my class and put it up on youtube later. Will share a link to it when/if I manage it.
Hope I do y'all proud! I ain't no Shug when it comes to putting the truth out there in a fun and entertaining way, but I'm at least enthusiastic!
Good luck, I'm sure you will give a fine presentation. Hope the grandson heals quickly.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
Hope it goes well for ya! Looking forward to this "trip report"

Well, it was good and bad. After all the talk I'd heard about a lot of folks showing up, we only had about 7 outside of the KC area hanging folks.
Ended up being more of a semi-structured gear discussion.
But...the organizers at Backwoods were actually very happy with the class and the responses they got from folks. They requested I see about doing the same thing at an upcoming 'outdoors' event they want to have in their parking lot.
Sidenote: Either I made the paracord leg limiter too long on my turtledog stand, or it really needs rubber feet. The first couple of folks got to see the "never hang higher than you're willing to fall" in action...LOL!
Forgot to say...THANK YOU TO RAMENSHAMEN, HOOT, RADIOHEAD, AND TRAILBOSS!!!
This would have flopped without all of your help!
