Might be nice to touch on suspension (HH Figure 8, whoopies, UCRs, straps) as a separate topic.
A mention of high-tech doodads like Dutchware, elephant trunks, etc., might also be worth mention.

How long is the presentation supposed to last....and how fast are you talking?
All of that would certainly get me hanging as a completely uninitiated bystander, or it might overwhelm me completely. As a person who has done more than a few presentations, just suggesting, give them enough info to get the fun and joy and comfort of it. Sell them on these points and they will naturally want to know more and will, well, as most everyone on this forum has done, seek out the details and fall in love with the journey as well as the ultimate destination. Getting there is half the fun.
I know you'll do a great job because the passion is obvious. Totally fun.

Don't forget to let them know about Hammock Forums so they can learn lots more and become part of the world-wide hammocking community.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
Hammock forums was definitely going to be a resource that was going to highly recommend!
I was also going to suggest looking for hammock camping videos on youtube, with a definite suggestion to checkout Shug's (In)famous videos.
I've got about 45 minutes to an hour to cover everything. I don't plan on blasting through it...from my perspective if I keep it focused on "solving the problems of camping", that should help me from hitting folks with an information overload.
I'll suggest that they look at this site...on the cool innovations like dutchware and such...I'll let them read up on that here most likely. I don't want to confuse them with too much terminology, or even too many options before they ever even sat in a hammock.
Maybe I missed it, but what day/time is the presentation scheduled for?
Good luck!
April 27th, at 11:00am and 1:00pm, at the Backwoods at 135th and Metcalf.
See Shug, that's what I've enjoyed about a lot of what you do.
I've given classes for YEARS on all kinds of subjects...ex-Army Sgt here, so I can give a good class on anything.
But I'd not thought about opening up the class with questions, especially geared towards the idea of trying to get an idea on what the attendees hope to get out of the presentation/class.
Good idea...I'm gonna incorporate that!
Well...class is coming up this Saturday. Sounds like Backwoods has drummed up a lot of interest in this.
Should have everything ready to go. TD stand made and tested. I've adjusted my HH ED and my wallyworld special hammock suspensions to fit to the ridgepole. Got the outline done. Just going to put a few 3x5 cards together to make sure I mention all I wanna mention, and going to do up 8 small sandbags to use for tarp tieouts on the floor instead of staking 'em down.
Hoping to see a few of the regular "KC hangers" out there! =-)
Good luck man, I can't wait to hear all about it.
