Buddy tried the risk method. It worked out much better heres a pic with a diy underquilt out of the poncho liner. We sewed some radiant barrier inbetween the half. We used the left overs from the attic improvements I did.

It is possible your problem has nothing to do with the whipping or hang, it could just be a flaw in the tablecloth. If you have a group of threads with "less give" you're going to feel like there's a line underneath you. If you can lay in the hammock and mark the place you feel the line, then re-whip pulling the surrounding area tighter, you might be able to better match the "give" for a uniform lay.
