Wink Reduce Your Hammock Load....Use Goats!

I for one have had multiple camping trips where it smelled as if a pack of goats was accompanying me ....but this guy actually uses his goats to lighten his own back pack load.

(After a few minutes this video becomes a ham radio operator's video.)

No goats on the A.T. and most of the other places here on the East Coast...but seems like a great idea for elsewhere.

My experience with goats on my grandfather's farm was that it would be tough to practice LNT with them. They tend to leave their pellets wherever they dang well please.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

That is brilliant. I'll bet they are allowed on any trail that allows horses (tons of em out here in the wilderness areas near the Phoenix valley).

I've been on trails here in Colorado where the signs said I have to yield to llamas. That was a surreal little moment.

How much weight can a goat carry? Looks like Peanut and Roster are carrying quite a bit.

I'm sure they can probably carry most humans so I'd say their load limit is probably at least 200 lbs.

NWHikers (Northwest hikers.net) has a trip report with goats as pack animals in the Pasayten Wilderness in the north Cascades. Great photos and write up here.
