    Guy walks into REI...

... And grabs two carabiners, heads to the climbing counter and asks for twenty foot of one inch webbing. The clerk says 'hammock rig, right?' True story, from my buddy who is setting up his first rig.

That's good news. It means we're making progress in our quest to increase awareness of hammock camping.

Glad to see the disease is spreading!!! I would love to see some numbers on percent of campers/hikers using hammocks and the trend over time.

I was in my local REI looking at the webbing and that was the same question I was asked. I hadn't even talked yet.

Yep, I went into EMS to pick up some webbing and rope. First question was "Hammock camping?" All 3 of the clerks also hammock camp. We compared notes and I gave them the URL to here.

The store manager for the new REI opening here Mar 1 said they realize that hammocks are very popular around here. Great news to hear they're prepared. :-)

I wasn't so much surprised that they're familiar with hammock camping, but I was surprised that they're familiar with the whoopie and MSH/toggle style of suspension.
