    Hello from good ole' SD

My name is Jonathon and I am from the Black Hills area in South Dakota and new to the hammock scene. I take frequent trips to the boundary waters in MN and big horns in WY. I love the outdoors and I think hanging might be for me. I'm looking for a starter hammock but also looking for advice to see if making my own would be worth it. Happy trails!

Welcome to HF Jonathon! The Black Hills of SD are on my bucket list

Starter hammock?? Well, any of the HF vendors will be a good choice...
Depends on which factors you weight more heavily, what range of weather conditions you expect to encounter, etc. Try to attend a group hang so you can compare different equipment and meet some really great people too.

Welcome from Denver! The best way to choose a hammock is to attend a local campout of hangers (known as a group hang) or to take up someone like Boothill on their offer to try out some hammocks and see what you like.
