I do two things.
First I use different colored cord locks on the stuff bag.
Second...I use Dutch Clips and I painted the "head end" Dutch Clip red

I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Thank you all for the ideas. Looks like I have a lot of choices to think through.

It's always best if your an early riser!
I personally like the idea of color coding the two ends. Whether it is with a stopper bead, different color ropes, or anything else you can add to easily identify which end you have by just looking at the color.
And if you are using a one ended stuff sack, all you have to do is always put the hammock away in the same manner, so that one end (whether head or foot) is always at the open end.
Different color carabiners, I'm not what you call an ultra light hiker.

I keep track be putting a green woopie on the foot and grey ucr on the head. Grey hair = head.
I have a size "0" S-biner clipped to the suspension at the head end.

I too use the "Red for Head" method. The head ends are marked by RED markers, biners, or marks on the bishop bag.
I also do the Bishop bag on the foot and pull out the top end. Makes my life easy.
I also just have a different color bead on my whoopie slings. Different color amsteel on the slings all together would work as well.
