    Easy Puffer Jacket Down Booties

For those, like me, with minimal sewing skills, here's an easy way to make a set of down booties...more like socks.

I cut off the bottom 14" of the sleeves from a JCP Puffer Jacket, turned it inside out, and sewed the big end closed.

You can wear them with one corner under the foot and they look normal, or you can pretend you're a duck and wear them like webs...especially if they're orange.

    Simple, warm, and 1.9oz

Definitely for inside the hammock only.

Pretty cool. I am gaining more diy sewing skills before I tackle something 3D like booties. This is a nice and easy way to do it though. However, I turned the sleeves in to something near JRB sleeves.

I was thinking of using the armpit area as a footprint for my booties. Cut the area above the hole left from cutting out the sleeves, then take a straight piece as the sole to cover the arm pit hole. Then sew up the fabric...idk though, I am still thinking and rethinking how I am going to approach this. I got some good answers on the thread I started asking for help on this subject. Great ideas in there too.

    Anywho, thanks for sharing!

    Talking

These are my Booties from the sleeves and leftover pieces from my

JCP_Puffer Jacket TQ I just finished

I made the soles out of some heavier nylon I had and I made it Double Layer
so I could stuff the extra scraps of downy goodness into them.

    Boy are they warm!

just need some more shockcord to finish the Right One

I think I'm the only one actually wearing the JCP puffer, or at least I was when I visited IA. Everybody else had made underquilts, boots, etc.! I do like the duck feet down socks, though, and I do have an orange one in addition to a gray one.

Never fear Grannypat, I bought extras to be worn for myself and both the kids. Of course the small comes down to my daughters knees. She looks warm though!

I was wondering about adding a sole to the booties to keep the kids from ripping them apart. I have some thin leather I was eyeing, but that kind of makes them difficult to wash. Eh, tis a work in progress.

I like the idea of having these for my wife. I just need to actually begin working on the ones I bought!!

I have actually been wearing one every once in awhile! And I placed two ni their bags and have one in each of our vehicles for emergency use.
