A big thank you to everybody who posts on this forum! All the questions, answers, videos, diagrams, etc. helped me to make it through a mild GA winter night (low 31°F), my first hang.
Come and listen to my story 'bout a fartintone.
A poor workin' man likes to spend his time alone,
and then one day while a surfin' his mind numb,
up on his screen popped a Hammock Forum;
brilliance that is, fine folks, sound advice!
Well the next thing ya know old Tone's a leaking air.
The kin folk said, "Tone get away from there.
You've been passing gas since you were just a boy."
So, he loaded up the truck and went to Unicoi:
State park that is, camping spots, strong trees....
Hike faster I here banjos!

It wasn't pretty, but I got one night in the hammock under my belt. The system and techniques are not nearly as intuitive and easy as y'all experts make them look. My hat's off to you, and thanks again for being tolerant of us noobs! Oh, and thanks to JRB for making getting started fast and easy. They are much better than any of my old girl friends!

The fun begins! There is a learning curve to all of this, and even when you have it dialed in, there are new things to try and tweek. I would suggest you make every effort to get to a group hang and check out all of the fun stuff and meet some great people.
