    Operation Backyard Setup - pics

Enjoyed a lot of first timer trial and error setup techniques in the remote wilderness of my backyard this weekend... still struggling with getting the tarp tied down exactly right in the high wind conditions we currently have. Let me know if you see something setup wrong or have some tips for improvement!

For higher wind I usually prefer less height... I would hang unusually low in the hammock... Like a foot or less off the ground... And then spread the tarp out wider and lower... It will catch less wind that way... But other than that maybe a pole mod to keep the middle from collapsing so much... Or center tie outs if its got it, at least on the windy side of things...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Good suggestions... my fly doesn't have center tie-outs, but I've seen the retrofit ones advertised. With the large HH hex fly, this is probably a good idea to keep the tarp sides off the hammock in super windy conditions. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nice pictures. Those tree straps appear to be slightly longer then the included ones.

Is that the 30D or 70D version of the Hex tarp?

It looks like he's replaced the stock suspension with whoopies and a strap.
