    a little spicing today

I been trying to figure out a clean light way of holding my doors back on my HG 4S and also use to pull the sides out when needed. I just made a continuos loop with 1.75 zing-it and hitch it to a mitten hook. It's easy on/off and light.

Nice! I used a piece of shock cord tied between the two pull outs and I larks head my hard line to it whenever I need them.

    I Need Help

I'm getting to think I'm in need of some real help here. It's getting to the point where I get excited seeing pictures of splicing and suspension systems. Gone are the days of a figure 8 knot, & rope large enough to haul a truck.

Nice job on the splicing. I can hardly wait to get my hands on a new HG Cuban Tarp. The thoughts of splicing all new guy lines, ridge lines and adding Dutchware keeps me awake half the night.

What did you do to open the weave on the 1.75? looks good.

Sorry for not getting back to you Hairbear. I use a thin but stiff copper wire folded in half. The wire was bought years ago for a mini survival kit, it was called snare wire. Some use a guitar string (the thin string). To get the wire into 1.7 weave is easy, I just work/push the folded end of the wire into the string. It's the same as working with Amsteel or Dynaglide just a little more fiddling. I find if the 1.7 that's been used is a bit its easier to spice.

If you know anyone that's into racing (automotive, motorcycle) or aviation, safety wire is fantastic stuff.

one thing i use on the small stuff is binder wire... you know the spiral wound notebooks... just spin some out, straighten it out and your good to go... surely you guys have some of those around... and they are $1 at the store and you don't even need to use it all, just a few inches or the wrap was enough to get what i needed done done... and the binder still has enough to do its job...
