Yup, ya need to read the label. Lots of Guttermant thread, I have several types from when I was doing some free style quilting with the decorative thread. It is only useful for the type of work I was doing with it. I use different thread for sewing on nylon, yet a different type for heavy duty leather work. Reading labels makes life easier and less expensive. Know what you want, what you have in your hand before you purchase it.

P.S. I have returned thread to Joanns. They were not difficult about it at all.

The thing to realize about "gutterman" thread is that they make dozens of types of thread. Scott at DIY stocks the "right stuff" for use in gear making. Many other stores, like JoAnns and the sort stock gutterman as well in other types. Just grabbing a roll off the shelf does not make it what you want just based on brand. That would be like saying any beer will due if it says it's beer on the bottle....they come in different flavors...Your looking for a specific micro brew in the Bud lite section of the store.
