My New D.I.Y. Tent Hammock...

Tonight will be the first night in it as I just finished the UQ.

Recently purchased a full length UQ Blank from UnderQuilts.com for my Hammock Tent project.

The gas meter guy came in my backyard when I was doing this. He looked at me like I was a serial killer. Down from a CalKing comforter worked great!


Filled each baffle with about 2oz of down.






DIY Supplies have been out of the small line locks for the suspension so I'll order those with some tarp material when they get them in. Used what I had on hand... I'm not really sure what or how much better this would work with full length shock cord in the channel. The channels are really tight and not sure what it would take to drag cord through them. I tried guitar string, knitting needles with a small hole drilled in the tip and finally gave up and just sewed grosgrain on the ends.

For some reason the hammock tie-outs are not working so well with the UQ on. They seem to keep the UQ from wrapping up and around the hammock body. The tie-outs just seem to be in the way. Works fine with-out them. Probably a better way to do this UQ setup.

Where did you buy your zipper and how long is it? Can you just buy zippers by the foot? Been running into problems with finding custom length zippers for these projects.

Zippers came from DIY Supplies - 40'. The covers attach at one end with 20' of zipper on each side from coil @ .35 a foot, each with their own stuff sack. You can use either the cover, the bug net, both or partially the cover. The covers are not detachable.

I slept in my back yard with just the bug net to start last night, I got cold and zipped up the cover over it - loved it. The tablecloth material breathes much more than ripstop, therefore no condensation either.

That is a beautiful project.I have got to teach my dog not to jump in my hammock whenever he wants ,he would shred the bugnet.
