I got a similar deal on a pair of hiking boots... Normally $240 I paid $45 and they looked as if they'd never seen the trail at all.

Picked up a HH Expedition at this years REI garage sale for $60. Not a thing wrong with it. I also got a Kelty Redwing 50L pack for $20 at the same sale.

I was gifted a commercial copy of the M1965 jungle hammock from a retired CIA type who used it in the far east in the late 60s... It was in great shape too.

Can I brown nose and say hammockforums? The $10 spent on donating member has let me make better informed decisions on not just hammocks but stoves, backpacks, and various other gear...

Not so much a deal, but learning how to make various suspension setups has saved me a bit of money too.

My first hammock purchase was a Hennessy Expedition Asym from the Hennessy Odds and Ends sale for $69. After using it I noticed some additional damage not noted and was sent was sent a new replacement body. I repaired the damage and traded the new one for a Gossamer Gear Mariposa backpack. Leaving me with my first hammock and ultralight pack for $69.

On other gear I got 2 new Boy Scout 30* down sleeping bags on clearance for $25 shipped. The shells are pretty thick, but my son still uses his.

Your best deal on hammock equipment?

I'm going to go with JC penny puffer jackets plus the awesome folks here at HF. I picked up enough to make three season top quilts and under quilts for my entire family, for less that it was going to cost to get one just for myself!

Not only is that a killer bargain, It allowed me to get my entire family excited to get outfitted for hanging right along with me. driving all over to score the coats, ripping them apart, planning out colors.... They are just as excited to get hanging as I am..... and that is a priceless deal!
