Hi SilvrSurfr, Thanks for the comment but, I must clarify a point you raised. A Swiss Army Knife is a great invention. In general, however, specialized tools perform better than the all-in-one tool. There is a trade-off between having everything in one place that is readily accessible and having superb capabilities and functionality. The cork-screw, the scissors and the wire cutter in a Swiss Army knife are OK, but they are not the best tools for doing the respective jobs.

The Raptor Sleep-Shelter is different. It's a modular system that has refined capabilities and functionality. It is not designed to be like a Swiss Army Knife in nature. Quite the contrary...It is up to the user to select the panels or modules they need or want. The Raptor is not a ready made system. I painstakingly designed all of the panels and modules to work in concert with each other, when and if they are attached. Therefore, they are specialized in their ability to perform with a higher degree of efficiency.

Hope that helps and thanks again for your input.
    Sincerely,
    Len

    Thanks.
Hi Gresh-- All of the individual components come with a stuff sack... As far as the Raptor is concerned, there is what I call a Shelter Sheath. It's a cross between a long bishop bag and a snake skin. It slides over the configured system and is secured at each end with a drawcord. Then, it's rolled up and secured with two compression style cinch straps. Rolled up size varies from 4" to 8" in diameter by 10" length. It's 8" diameter with top screens, hammock, 40*top quilt and 30*bottom quilt. I will post a video shortly.
    Hope that helps...Thanks for asking.

Exactly the answer I was looking for, thanks for your response! I'm looking forward to the video so I can see if what you're describing is what I'm visualizing.

I watched the video in the other thread (Raptor Explained), and it definitely kept my attention. Hopefully we'll both be able to attend the Spring Swing in March (waiting to find out if I'm off from work that weekend) so that myself and others can check it out in person.

Grizz, you can double as a Hammock Consultant in addition to Grizz Engineering.

    Len,

Looks like an interesting system. I see several aspects of other designs incorporated and expanded on in yours. I peeked over on your Kickstart page and I did not see an option to get a set-up fitted with any type of insulation. I would think that a system such as yours, some may be more interested in getting top and bottom insulation with the hammock at the get go and add in things like the net and panels as they need them. I am not sure if this is even possible with how Kickstart works, but you may get more nibbles by including those options.

Also, you would be doing well to send Grizz a set-up to review. He is very fair, honest and unbiased. He is a very well respected member here. All assuming he has time.
