    Hello from Tennessee

Greetings from Dayton, Tn (hour north of Chattanooga).

Im 50 and looking to lighten up for local nd AT hiking ith my 17 yr old son. Havent backpacked in a couple years, so i thought that i would alter my gear towards lighter nd a little comfort.

Ive read several threads nd watched some Shug and prof vids. Now its time o interact some- which hmmock for backpacking, snoring issues, staying warm, etc.

    Thanks,
    John

Hey Tennessee... I want to do at least some of the AT myself. Your lucky to have a son who wants to do that with you.

And greetings backatcha! Looks like lots of folks down your way.

I was down there just last weekend leading a hike. Three hung, four slept on the ground. Well, I slept on a big bed of leaves, trying out a bivy sack a friend made. Here's a link to the photos, if they might interest you. We did the Tennessee River Gorge segment of the Cumberland Trail. Last year did the segment up near Soddy-Daisy. Anyway, we do lots of hiking down your way and all over Tennessee, especially middle and east Tennessee.
