Question Need STLs on CF tarps?

Who's got experience with Cuben tarps? Do you benefit from self-tensioning ridgeline and/or tieouts in a strong wind?

    Need STLs on CF tarps?

The use of some type of "bungee" cords on tarps started with silnylon tarps. They can stretch, plus they really stretch when they get wet from rain or even dew. The "bungee" would take up that slack so that you wouldn't have to re-adjust the tie-outs in the middle if the night.

Cuben fiber does not stretch at all. Neither does ultralight cords made of spectra or dyneema that we typically use with these tarps. So, do we need a "bungee" somewhere in the system?

Consider the following scenario. Tarp ridgeline strung between two trees, piano wire tight, no stretch possible between the lines and tarp materials. Big wind whips up and MOVES one of the trees. Yes, trees are NOT immovable objects. What's going to give? Probably not the dyneema lines.
Everyone must make their own decisions about what to be prepared for. HYOH

I do like to use them on my cuben tarps as I have detected a wee bit of sag in the tarp overnight from time to time......when I get in the hammock the trees can bend ever-so slightly and loosen a tarp. The tensioners from the corner guys help. I do not use them on the ridgeline and I crank those tight.
That is my preferred way. Many do not use them at all.
