    UQ attachments for bridge hammock?

    Hey there.

I am looking for options for how to attach an underquilt to my DIY bridge hammocks. I have UQs that have channels with shockcord running through them. So, I'm interested in sewing "anchors" into the four corners of the hammock body for the UQ shockcord to hook on to.

Some options I've been looking at:

    1. Dutchware: Light weight and durable, and I know they work, but they seem a bit sharp and my hammock body is 1.1 ripstop so I'm concerned about damaging the material.

    2. Sew loops at the corner and then use mini-biners to hook the shockcord to the loop. Simple, effective, but I'd rather not add 4 biners to my set up.

    3. Mitten hooks: Basically, they'd be attached just like the Dutchware but are made of plastic. I like that they would swivel and have a bit of give, plus they are not sharp. I don't know how durable they are or how long they would last.

Any thoughts on these options? Any other ideas floating around out there?

Emcee was having some challenges in that area recently.
You may want to PM him to see if he came up with anything.

On my underquilts for my bridge hammocks, I have linelocs on each corner of the quilt. These attach to the corner rings with plastic S biners and shock cord.

My quilts are full length so I don't have a separate lengthwise shock cord channel suspension.

    Cheers

I really like a mini biner clipped in to the existing corner webbing loops as Brandon uses with the WBRR/Lynx setup.

My DIY bridge has the same webbing loops.

Usually just wrap around spreader bar ends.

On my JRB BMBH, I use a piece of shock cord, larks head it to the top of the suspension triangle and run it down through the spreader bar rings. On each side I have a dutch quilt clip, one for my uq, and one for my uqp, with a cord lock to hold/adjust the quilt. It's just attached to the corners of the quilt.

    UQ attachment for bridge hammock

Man, you guys are the best! Some great options to choose from.

Fallkniven - that is a really slick set up.

Shug - I hadn't thought about placing the UQ suspension on the spreader bars out of fear that I shouldn't put any more stress on them then absolutely necessary. Perhaps this is not an amount of force to be worried about.

Mike - Thanks for the heads up. I PM'd emcee and he got in touch with me. I need to get back to him and thank him for his input.

Brian - great idea and I like the line loc attachment idea. My UQ is 3/4 but I want to kick that idea around and maybe combine it or use it for a full length UQ option I have.

gmcttr - your set up is very similar to one I was thinking about. The pic really helps me see how it may work out. Thanks!
