    Thursday List?

Does anyone have a list or want to help me get one together for the hikers arriving on Thursday?

I'll take one of those. Actually I just ordered a
ALITE BUTTERFLY. highly recommended by several
Testers. I'm a little worried about it pushing into
the ground so I'm bringing something to set the two
Feet on to hold it up.

I should also be on the "attending" list. I'll be arriving with Santo and Smanion320 on Friday.

So far jake, jerry, trout, and perhaps a couple others are on for Thur. I will
Be there too unless its raining cats and dogs. If it is I will be there early Friday.

Sure wish I could make it; looks like great weather this weekend!

It was nice having the stream nearby with cold, crystal clear water to clean up. As usual though, I was paranoid after seeing a bunch of bugs and other creepy crawlies on top and under the water. So in addition to my Sawyer, I threw some chlorine dioxide in before filtering.

I have the GPS cords for everyone. When I get home I'll send them . Mule the parking area across the creek would be good for those coming in late. About a 10 min. Walk.
The only Easy day was yesterday.

    Directions

Can you post directions from the South to the hang? I'm a complete amatuer hanger but I've done a little backpacking. I assume I take I65 north from Louisville. Trying to make it Friday or Saturday night.
    Thanks!

From the South As from the North, 46 West thru Nasheville then keep following 46 at the light, a left turn, to Bloomington. Altogether about 30 or 40 miles from 46, then right before you get to Bloomingon, the fist light, take a left down 446 about 15 miles to TOWER ROAD. At Tower Road, you take it the only way it goes, to the East. Follow the road 6 miles, about twenty minutes to the tower.
From the Tower take the main trial down and then up to the Sycamore Branch Trail. Take that trail to the bottom of the switchbacks, about 20 minutes, then to the East about another 20 minutes at most. When you get to the second 4 x 4 post, which has a 2 on it ( and an arrow pointing to the Sycamore Branches direction) You do something different here. You turn NORTH.
You are heading up a wide flat area following a creek and choked with scrubby trees and green briars. Now you should see the red and white marker tape we put up. It is luminous tape and shows up at dark.
(I once thought you couldn't go wrong once following the creek to the North, but it just ain't so. You MUST make sure you are seeing the red and white tape especially if you are coming in after dark. It is possible to get turned to the North North West and follow another creek to the left side of the ridge. That ridge enclosed the Crescent Valley2 on it's left or West side. IF you are walking and have walked, fighting some green briars all the way and have not found us, turn back and walk till you find a red and white tape, then walk to the NNE till you see more tape. You should be getting the the clearing where we are camped in twenty minutes from the trail).
I got off on the West valley to the west of the Crescent Valley and I could not be heard yelling by those in the Valley. So if you come in at night you may have to backtrack till you see a tape marker.
The main creek will lead you to the valley. You may have to cross the creek several times due to the west bank coming close to the steep hill, so just cross and then cross back if needed but remember, thought the red and white tape is not places but about every 4 or 5 minutes apart once on the bushwhack, you should see tape every five minutes.
Everytime a green briar pokes you, just be thankful that they are there guarding the way to the semi secret place. If they weren't there many would walk back that way.
The tape could also be a hundred yards apart across the valley, to your left or right as you travel North, too. In some places I put tape on both sides of the creek but not always, so in other words, head NORTH following the large creek and you will find yourself in the enchanted valley in not time.
Parking should be sufficient on Thursday and Friday, but if you find yourself with a full lot on Saturday, you can park on the grass next to the parking lot next to the road. Now, if you must park on the road, please, for the sheriff's sake, only park on the side of the road that other cars are parked on. Do not park on both sides!
The other option is to park at the Miller Ridge lot that you passed one mile before getting to the tower. It is a very boring walk up the road with a pack on your back, so if you find yourself having to do this try to find someone to come get you and just hope no one gets THEIR parking place while they are gone. All this can be worked out one way or another.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.
