Here is another map showing how to get there from the Tower on Tower Road.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.
Water is a good clear source. The valley provided excellent protection from the elements. Be prepared to bush whack, but it's nothing crazy.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.
I am itching for this hang, but it is looking like I may have to bail. I'm not 100% on my funds at the moment. If anyone is between Carbondale, IL and the trail head that I might be able to meet up with and split costs that would be great. This looks like a trip I need to make. I'm trying.
Here are the pics from my rebuild of the Brown Hollow fire pit. Hope you all enjoy it if you stick with that location for the hang. If not, I'm sure somone will get good use out of it.
This is the state of the fire pit when I got there:
So I tore it apart and dug out the ash and scattered it:
And then rebuilt it and tossed the excess stones out into the brush:
I'll try to get trip report up soon with more pics.

Don't alter my altar
don't desecrate my shrine
My church is the water
and my home is underneath the shady pines

Nice work, Salamander.
