Does anyone have any input for these hiking poles on a RR

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get my pack put together and am wanting to find a hiking pole to replace the spreader bars on my RR. I was curious if anyone knows anything about these poles?

I know alot are using the B&H poles but I'm trying to save all the weight possible.

I'm also looking for some good poles for the same purpose. It is my understanding that the poles have to be straight-handled, not ergonomically angled like I believe those are. I'm FAR from an expert when it comes to trekking poles, though, so I may be TOTALLY off here.

yeah I thought so too but wondered if these would work because they have a stud for a camera mount so I would guess it would have a flat surface on top to mount it......or at least that's my guess. lol

More important than a flat surface is that the line between the camera mount and the tip of the pole goes directly through the center of the pole, I think. Otherwise you are fighting more than just compression forces, you get shear forces thrown in there as well. I think. Key words. ;p

I saw these Black Diamond Syncline Two-Piece Trekking Poles
and started thinking they might work for my 36" spreaderbars.

Weight per pair: 1 lb. 4 oz.
Color: Silver/Orange.

I wish I had some in front of me to look at their strength and how they are made. They are cheap enough at $39 and a little heavy, but at 38" collapsed they might be perfect. Normally I wouldn't want 2 piece because the don't shrink down as far, but unless I am climbing I almost never collapse them.

Has anyone messed with the handle on the black diamonds and tried to alter them with a camera type mount?

How you going to use a 2 piece pole on the foot end?

I wouldn't use it on my current hammock on the foot end, only on the head end. However, I have been thinking of one more hammock version with a different net setup. If the poles are strong enough I would design it to work with the poles.
