Still planning to go. Taking half day off from work friday, finally broke down and decided to buy a down bag for the hike. Determined 2 pounds beats an 8 pound cws military rig! Was also thinking about a camp chair. Any suggestions? Going for something light that can double as a table.
Ahh, you made me reveal my newest piece of camp gear early!
I bought a chair specifically to replace the one I use car camping (the one I used at woodridge).
The original weighed just over four pounds. I've used it for quite a while and it works nicely...but I wanted something lighter for this trip as well.
Here's what I got:

According to the specs, it's 1lb 12oz, and it breaks down pretty darned small. Very comfortable, and rated to support up to 250lbs.
And I've verified it should work fine as my "end table" next to my hammock at night.
Scary! Here's what I was looking at real hard at Backwoods:

Yours is cheaper by about 20 bucks at REI though. If I ordered it today do they have a good turnaround time?
I got mine in just a couple of days. If you ordered it today, I'd be amazed if you didn't have it in time for his hang.
And the cost (and color choices) were the reasons I went with the REI version.
Turns out my grandson LOVES the orange legs on mine. LOL!
What color is the fabric? To avoid confusion I'll pick another color.
I got the black...but get whatever color you like. Simple enough to tie a string around a chair leg or something to keep 'em straight.
Hey guys! We're a couple of days out!!! Weather is looking fun...might see some rain/storms Sat evening, but otherwise looks pretty good.
Was going to suggest that we try to figure out who might be onsite earliest, and work out a way to mark the location of our first night site, since we're going a ways in on Friday evening.
I was thinking that once we know who's gonna be onsite pretty early, they can find us a campsite and mark the trail with a bit of trail tape to let folks know where to stop and look around/shout "whoo buddy" to find everyone.
Thoughts/suggestions?
I won't be there until 7-8 pm

Hoot and I are traveling out together and expect to hit the parking lot by 3 at the latest. If you need to have us mark the site post one of us and let us know. Would be happy to!
