polyester crinkle taffeta from the tableclothsfactory

Hey has anyone ever purchased the Polyester Crinkle Taffeta from the tableclothsfactory? I was wondering the fabric weight. I asked them online and the numbers she gave me calculates out to 10 oz/yd squared. I am thinking this cannot be right. I was looking at the 90" x 156"

    Anyone?

I ordered three and just got them today, two weeks for delivery. When I got the package I couldn't figure out what it was. It was heavy! Weight is 15.4 oz unrigged for the 60x126. There are lighter options but for the house there are great. I did a gathered end and didn't like it, I ended up doing channel ends on all three. In my opinion that is the only way to do the tablecloth hammock. hope this helps. Cheers

I don't know what the specs are but I can weigh one real quick.

    I can't find my 90x156 but I did find a 90x132 and the tablecloth by it's self is 22oz.

See that is what I was expecting - if I did the math right your weight works out to approx 2.6 oz per sq yard not the close to 10 oz per sq yard the lady quoted me.

Spaceweasel when you get a chance to weigh one (90 x 156) that would be great. Or not necessary if you think the fabricis the same between the two sizes.

BTW they have a store wide 20% sale going on right now

Just weighed a 90x132 still in the thin bag it came in...24 oz on my scale...a bit over 2.6/yd.

All sizes use the same fabric.

We have a batch of them to play with but have hesitated on doing much with them. I stitched one out with channels and whipped one. It's very heavy compared to what we normally make. As stated, it is fairly comfortable and it feels robust, but my goodness! 22 oz. is a bit more than I want to carry. I still prefer a 1.9 ripstop (1.1 ripstop even, but let's face it, if you're considering this stuff, you're not looking for ultralight)... lighter, still very strong and less likely to fail entirely if it gets a puncture or hole. I think old4hats is right... "great for an all around the house hammock." IMHO there are other more trail-friendly hammocks out there.
