    Amsteel, pt 2

I know amsteel is slippery stuff. I'm planning on doing some "anchor" lines for my td stand. Will it hold truckers hitch, ya think, or would I be better off with paracord? Thx

It'd probably hold a truckers hitch but paracord would certainly hold better. For the TD stand I'd personally go paracord. It's easier to work with in that circumstance and is cheaper.

I just drilled the bottom of the legs and put in long stakes. Held fine with with gusty wind and equip hammock.

550 would def hold better, but was concerned about stretch in high winds, like at a beach.

You could use amsteel whoopie slings or ucr's to avoid knots altogether.

Considering the short lengths used a tie downs, I doubt that stretching will be a problem with paracord.

+1. Use whoopies if you really want to go with amsteel. But, the forces on this won't be all that high. Stretching shouldn't be a major issue.

The Icicle Hitch was created for lines like amsteel, to replace the taunt line hitch. Works very well, I've used it, holds great.

    Amsteel, pt 2

I've used Amsteel to whip. It works fine but is serious overkill. I've also used very thin kite string and the 1.1 ripstop started ripping there as if the tiny line cut the fabric. Cord strength doesn't matter too much, just don't go too small.

Do you have a photo or diagram of how the holes you drilled are orientated please?
