Having a difficult time figuring out which model to choose....need advice

    Hey everyone,

I got to lay in a Clark last weekend at a hang and really liked it. I believe his was a 250 model. Can anyone tell me the difference between the NX250 and the TX250? Is the 250 the "roomiest" solo hammock that they offer? The fella told me they had on larger but I can't quite figure out which one he was talking about. I'm 6' and around 240lbs(but slowly loosing some).

There are several differences between the NX-250 and the Tropical. The hoops, the storm shield, the number of pockets, etc. The NX is considered to be a 4 season hammock, the Tropical, a 3 season hammock.
The NX-250 could be considered their largest 'solo' hammock but the 'Flex 180' can be used as a solo as well as a double. In addition, the 'Vertex' is considered a double hammock.

This site should tell you everything about the differences.

And...somewhere on the Clark website are charts that show the height and weigh comfort range of each hammock.
In my opinion - the NX-250 would be a good fit for your size. Without taking the time to look for myself, I think the 200 might be the same dimensions but the spreader hoops of the NX really help to keep it opened up and avoid shoulder squeeze.
Clarks can be considered expensive but I think most users are very satisfied with their comfort.

    Lee:
Drop me a pm with your address and I will send you my Clark NX-200 so you can try it out over a couple of weekends. I bought the 200 before they had the 250 on the market.

Only difference I have been able to find between the NX-200 and NX-250 is the the 250 has the poles that hold up the bugnetting where the 200 attaches to the stock tarp. Also, the 250 comes with a different tarp design now.I have heard from some that the poles actually make the 250 feel roomier than the 200 but I cannot confirm nor deny these claims. The 200 was my first hammock and will always be in my arsenal of hammocks.

Bigbamaguy - your generosity is always inspirational .
If you recall, you loaned me that hammock a couple of years ago. I spent several nights in it. One was a 30 degree, very windy, snowy experience - only went inside when nature finally called. It led me to my current NX-250.

Thanks for the offer Bama....I've never been too big on borrowing stuff. Jim told me last weekend his was a 250 but I bet it was a 200 because he kept saying there was one size larger and he was saying vertex but that's the two person model. He said that there are usually some on ebay so I think I'll keep my eye out for one. I need another hammock like I need a hole in my head
