Hi, just joined the forum after many months of reading all the great information here and waching loads of Youtube clips.( Shug !-absolutely brilliant)
I have a DD Travel hammock and 3x3 tarp which I got last year and have only managed to hanmmock camp twice, but really enjoyed it. Also have a collection of tents so this is new. Last summer got to Loch Lomond on a kayaking trip and last week at Tayvallich in Argyll Scotand as my daughter wasn't too keen on original destination of Aviemore as minus10c. But they had loads of snow! Next time.
After reading and watching all the tips I converted the webbing and use tree huggers down to buckle rings whch I have attached a lenght of amsteel to a ring then karabiner to a piece of original webbing through the hammock. There was so many ideas I pretty much used them all. At least don't have to carry it all in a pack as use my kayak!!
I am in the process of making an under quilt from a childs down sleeping bag that I got off ebay for 99p. It's only 160cm long but thats full lenght for me!
Still have to do a bit more work on it so need more trips out to expirement.
Got a fair bit of condensation in the hammocks so maybe had to much on to keep warm, but thought it was going to be a bit colder than it was.
Anyway nice to be on the forum and if you see 3 women out hammocking in Scotland that will be Yoxie, Flosie and myself. Cheers.
