Been do some hiking...started a hiking group for women recently, and have been managing to get out there for some camping trips, but have also recently started learning how to survive w/out anything but a knife, so it's been really fun. Hmmm...did the hike change me much?

The most honest answer is it changed everything.

Life has been quite interesting since my hike ended, and I am finally writing that book, as now I have some wisdom to share about the impact my hike had on my entire life (that I couldn't have known had I gone right out and written a book the same year I finished)....and my hope is that anyone who reads the book will walk away with some very concrete answers to what it means to really "live" your life...but like most things...we all have to choose it.

Thanks, I really appreciate your comments...and yes, the plan is to be more involved in the community. I recently started my own business and there's a wilderness component to it, so I've got more flexibility now to do the things that are meaningful.

    Welcome back!

I've surely found this forum to be the nicest group of folks I've ever had the pleasure of talking with.

Yet another person here who's in the midst of reading through your TrailJournal. Good writing style, and it definitely seems as if the trail is a demanding place. Thanks for sharing it with us, especially the prep sections and how you met the emotional demands of the trail.

    Glad you like it here!

Wow, Michele! Having you resurface here Certainly is a dream come true. When I read your trail journal so avidly, I was not a hammock camper. I was in total awe of you as a hiker, hammocker, and a talented writer. Now a full time hammocker, I think of you often. I anxiously await more news of your business and your book. Best wishes for your every success with those.

Most respectfully, and with many thanks to you for your efforts to write and share such a candid and intelligent trail journal,

    Turtlelady

Wow thanks Turtlelady. I so appreciate the kind words and welcome to the hanging crowd! It was these folks who taught me so you're in good hands here!

Peter Pan!! Great to hear from you and really exciting that you two have a new shop! I'll definitely swing by when I'm in your neck of the woods again. It's good to be back. Tell you partner in crime I said howdy. Still using all my original equipment from you guys, including the original 4 Self-Tensioning Lines that I started the AT with oh so many years ago! Talk about quality.
