First let me say that this site is bloody awesome! My wife ordered my first hammock for me last Christmas. She knows I've been wanting one during my last few years of Backpacking in Ontario.
So, as of January, I now officially own my first Hammock. A Hennessy Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip... Well- they actually sent the wrong one first. But while I was waiting for the right one, I found this awesome site!
And, before I received my first one, I already ordered some simple mods to help set it up. Snake Skins, 2 slings, 4 descending rings, and 2 carabiners. Everything from Mountain Equipment Coop. And everything arrived the same day!
Of course this meant I had to set it up, so across the street I went. Much to the delight of my wife. Being a camper, I'm pretty good at doing what I do, and was pleased to have it set up in under 5 minutes. For the first time, I figure that was a little slow, but I had an issue with the suspension on one side. Anyway. I love it!
I've already ordered the larger Hex Rain Fly and I'm really looking forward to this year's backpacking. Especially since my camping buddy got her hammock first- and spent all of last summer rubbing it in our faces. It was funny too because she thought my desire for a hammock was stupid, and then she bought one first!
Anyway. I'm really enjoying this site, and look forward to an awesome year of hanging!
