It really is amazing, the tip was laying, below the spreader bar plate on the floor ,so i know it came off before launching the pole.Just think if your buddy was hanging next to you when it happened.

    Thank you for the warning.

If my former husband ever comes aroung again, I am going to suggest a Hammock Hang, I will be sure to hang the hammock I will loan him, next to mine, just a little ahead of mine. Then I will be sure to damage my pole the same way you did. I am sure you see where I am going with this. Oops accidents happen.

Seriously, I would send Lei a letter letting them know what happened, it could be fatal to someone.

Whenever I purchase something new and read the warnings I always wonder how some of the listed dangers came to be included, this would be one of those crazy sounding warnings. I would not have guessed my pole part would become a missile, that could kill someone. Just like the guy that had a Stingray barb through his heart.

Does anyone know if this gentleman is still a member? Since I'm seriously considering following his instruction videos posted on youTube for converting my Leki poles this safety warning he's posted here, even though more than 4 years old ago is of enough interest that I'd like to be confident as to whether or not I should proceed with the mod. Seems from reading this and viewing the videos that the problem may have been simply an issue with the carbide tips,...am I wrong? Thanks to anyone who can shed more light on this issue for me.
