Are you just wrapping the ridge pole with your suspension webbing and clipping it onto itself via carbiner? Looks like it holds OK?
Yeah, but it was slipping when I just did a standard wrap and clip and put pressure on the whoopie, so I wrapped and then went around the webbing to the hammock and back around the opposite direction to lock it in. I don't know if you can see it though.
Hope that makes sense.
Linkey to my jig.
Wooden V-blocks and clamps could be used.
That is a sweet setup. I saw that it weighs approx. 40lbs, how long does it take to setup?
Thanks.. A combined effort from everyone here...I don't know, about 10 minutes from Bag to hammock.. If pressured or competitive, I bet I could do it in five.
Open the three pole assy, insert extensions for each tripod, put 4 poles together, wrap the amsteel around the ridgeline pole and hang the hammock.
My advise...don't. Keep them all interchangeable.
Put the "tree strap" through a short piece of bicycle inner tube (clean the talc out of the inside first) to make it non-slip on the ridgepole. If you don't have an old leaky tube around, go buy one.
I don't like using a dutch clip as shown here for this application (love them on the trees though)...IMG_3099 (Medium).JPG
I prefer to just use the loop on the end as shown here on a ~1" stainless steel ridgepole...IMG_2344 (Medium).JPG...yeah, I know...the photo sucks.
The rubber holds extremely well.
5 minutes tops once you've done it a few times.
