I can see the thumbnail photos in some of the other posts and replies but I do not see the photos or thumbnails in the original post which I quoted or in the quote. I only see the place holders.

I loaded a web browser that I strongly dislike, but it does allow me to see the photos...
I'm inclined to agree with you until someone proves us wrong. One of the legs of each tripod needs to be pointing inline with the hammock. A guy wire is then tied out in the opposite direction to provide stability.
Get rid of the ridge pole and add guy wires to studs in the wall :-).

I really don't understand what you're trying to get at.
MGLion asked about removing the ridgepole and using the tripods only in a free standing state. With the light tripods we are using, that will not work.
You are proposing using a tie-out/down to take the side loads instead of the ridgepole. Of course this will work. It will also work with bipods, single poles (and even no poles if you're hanging from house walls).
Support for the tripods or no support for the tripods = apples to oranges.
Didn't mean to be dismissive of the idea. I promote the idea of any kind of different stand as we all do! It's just a really different stand you're considering, as far as I can tell.
That's how all of these stands start! Go with your idea. We're all interested! No one is trying to prove you wrong.
Some say I'm apathetic, but I don't care. - Randy
