    Tarp issue

I was wondering how NX-250 owners have their tarps set up. Pictures would be great!

I can't post pics, but I have been using the Vertex tarp with my nx 250. I set it up by tying each end to the trees, them guy down the sides, and if weather permits, always in porch mode. I also tend to set it up fairly high, as I have a bit of trouble moving when I first get up, so stooping way over is a no no. I have recently added a Super Fly from WarBonnet, and it will fly high as well, at least weather permitting.

I have been able to find limbs or trees to tie out to for porch mode in most areas, at least for one or two tie outs. I have been set up in rain several nights with mine and I just lower both sides and so far no big issues. I have never used the velcro at the ends to close them off, but that could be due to having been set up with the rain not blowing in the ends. This tarp is pretty good, big and roomy. I bought the Super Fly because it has doors and I plan to do a good bit of trail camping this coming winter.

    Drum man,

First of all: I use the Clark Rain Fly XL Camo. And i don't have a picture available of my basic set up. But i'll make some.

Besides the usual set up i would like to share the cocoon set up with you. The cocoon mode is an underestimated solution (as far as i can gather).

In case of unexpected rain and in winter I go into cocoon mode. On a fixed position on my whoopies I have 2 very small rings. The plastic attachment points on the front and rear of the tarp go through these rings. And then I set it with a Nite Ize S-Biner through the plastic attachment point of the tarp on both sides. Using the velcro I put the tarp then in cocoon mode. Setting up the tarp this way takes 10 seconds. No additional ropes or knots are needed.

    Tarp-sling connection

Drum man, i have promised you a picture of the tarp-sling connection.

As you know Clark-tarps do have 2x2 plastic connection points at the front- and rear end. I use one of these connection points at the front- as well as the rear end to connect the tarp with a mini carabiner to the whoopie slings. The main objective is to keep the tarp always above the descending ring in very stormy rainy weather. This setup has never let me down.
