    Hammock/quilts/net tube

Has anyone made a snake skin like tube for their hammock & quilts like the Lazy Slug?
If so, how did it work out for you?
I'm thinking about getting some cheap material and giving it a try. Have a 60L Granite Gear Victor pack to stuff it in and should have some room for clothes & grub.

I have made several and I love them. I sick of being the last one packing up in camp every morning. It sure did the trick and is a must if you have kids or newbs to look after. Advice I would give is, the bigger the better to start with, you can always chop it down afterwards.

Thanks for the info. I hike solo and, with the altitude, it's full gear. Can be hot in the day with some mozzies in the evening and wake up to ice in the morning. I tried a large stuff sack for the gear, but ended up spending more time untangling and re-hanging it than if it were packed separately.

    cheap snake skins

How about a queen size pair of control top ladies nylon stockings with reinforced toes. Cut along the seam at the toes to open end where the weave is thicker. Cut off the panty a couple of inches above the thigh area of the thicker control top weave. Cheap, light weight, who cares if you get a run, throw out and replace when they fall apart for about $4. You can always upgrade later.

Might work since my main concern is to keep the middle together & prevent twisting/tangling. I can see packing the center about 3-4 ft out and stuffing it into a sack like a spinnaker rig. Hook the ends, pull, and out she goes.

In any case, the project starts next weekend and I have a couple of other ideas to try with some spare fabric.
