If my hammock is treated, I don't bother treating any of my insulation. The hammock alone seems to work fine.

    Re: permethrin on UQ???

I don't because mosquitoes can't bite through ny insulation... So it doesn't matter... The hammock is treated just so that the parts that get pushed against the netting don't get attacked... Had that happen one night, grasses pushed the mosquito net against me... 50+ bites later when I woke up and a very itchy walk home I swore I would never go out without a treated hammock again...

Yeah I just treat the hammock as well. Not sure how down would take to getting soaked with permethrin.

    Re: permethrin on UQ???

I definitely would not soak my down UQ like I do my other gear. One option for treating them, though, would be to hang them up outside, put the permethrin in a spray bottle and lightly spray the shells. This way, the shells are treated without soaking the down inside. I plan to treat other bulky gear like my pack and boots the same way. Just a thought.
