    Haha I thought the same thing. Kelty makes some large tarps that are pretty cheap.

    tarp

    it will be used for both. i think i will go for the kelty 12x12 big enough and if i hike i dont plan to go very far. what do u guys think?

    I've got the kelty 12 and it's been fine. Never used two hammocks with it, but I did have a hammock & 6 kids staying dry with plenty of room in a thunderstorm and there was plenty of room. It does pack down pretty small if you fold it "flag style" and stash it inside the top of the pack for easy deployment.

    i use the kelty 9 good for one in diamond mode not too spendy. the 12 would work for 2

    Newbie Tarp ???????????

    +1 on the Noah's tarp 12. Probably the biggest tarp for best price. And it isn't too heavy to take backpacking IMHO.
